How to set an invisible Discord name
Copy the blank character
Braille blank is the Discord-recommended default.
Open User Settings → Profiles
Edit the Display Name field.
Paste and save
The name shows as blank in the member list.
Keep your username plain
The @username remains searchable and mentionable — that is what keeps pings working.
How an invisible name behaves
Member list: your entry shows as a blank row — memorable in busy servers.
Mentions still work: @username pings you regardless of the display name.
Server nicknames: admins can still set per-server nicknames, which override the invisible one.
Characters that work as blank Discord names
| Braille Blank | U+2800 — the Discord classic, never trimmed |

| Hangul Filler | U+3164 — also reliable |
| Zero Width Space | U+200B — sometimes stripped on update |
| Note | Display name only — the @username cannot be blank |

Frequently asked questions
Is an invisible name against Discord ToS?
No — it is an ordinary Unicode character in a field that accepts Unicode. Server staff can still see your username and moderate normally.
Why did my blank name disappear after an update?
Some clients strip U+200B on app updates; the Braille blank U+2800 is the durable choice.
Can I make my username invisible too?
No — Discord requires a valid unique username; only the display name can render as blank.
